HAMFA 4th Annual Pre-Labor Day Festival

Hosted by Jean Claude Vaval, as summer 2007 draws to a close, HAMFA and Fos Baron Entertainment Productions proudly organized the 4th Annual Pre-Labor Day Festival at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow Long Island, New York, as this event becomes a yearly rendezvous for people in the Tri-State area and beyond. The lineup included Carimi, Djakout, Kreyol La, Take Off, T-Vice, Tabou Combo and Zenglen. Raram was scheduled to play but the group was nowhere to be found.

The festival kicked off with the newly hot and fascinating band Take Off, a band that is foreign to the legendary Singer Shoubou; that was the joke at the press release which was held at Labadee Manoir, Jamaica Avenue in Queens Village, NY. First and foremost, I want to congratulate HAMFA for putting together such a great show. Take Off happily entertained the early crowd and was forced to continue playing by request of a demanding crowd for more.

Take Off played for 36 minutes and 30 minutes later, it was Mecca aka Grimo’s time to rock the crowd. As usual, Mecca jammed the crowd; however it was not until Carimi stepped on the stage that things started to get serious. Performances by Tabou Combo, Kreyol La and Zenglen were great; however, due to lack of time, some band members were very upset. From the crowd, one could notice a defiant Ti Joe on stage begging for more time after he was asked 4 times to stop playing.

By now you must be wondering what about T-Vice and Djakout Mizik? There was no disappointment when it comes to performances by T-Vice and Djakout. Both bands performed quite well and the crowd got its money’s worth. The night went by with Djakout rocking not only the crowd but also Event Staffs went nuts, jumping and dancing as if there was no tomorrow.

It seems that HAMFA matures with time. Every year, the Pre-Labor Day Fest gets better and better and this year is no difference. Comparing to the past 3 years, the 4th Annual Pre-Labor Day Fest welcomed a crowd of more than the second and last year’s combined.
