As previously promised, Wyclef Jean and Sak Pasé Mizik records returned to S.O.B.’s on Monday night, July 30th and once again proved that Kreyol Hip Hop is not a myth but an eventual reality. Performances by artists such as Bam of BGZ, Mr. Reo, Jimmy O, flying from Cité Soleil on a tourist visa to New York only to join the movement; and above all, from Florida, Mecca aka Grimo whose stage performance reminds us of LL Cool J’s younger years.
Based on the enthusiasms of the artists and the optimism of Sak Pasé records, we can rest assured that Hip Hop Kreyol is on the verge of success. Momentum is high and what is left to do is for Haitians to come out and join them in this new endeavor. As Papa Jube , VP of S.O.B’s, and Wyclef Jean so cleverly put it, "this is a new movement, a global movement and one that is there to stay in our community". We can once again make history; so let’s come and support this movement as Wyclef is so determined to make it a success for these young Haitian artists. Kreyol Hip Hop is a monthly event being held as S.O.B.’s and I suggest that you come and support our youths; as we know it too well that history was made for Haitians to make; Kreyol Hip Hop is therefore history in the making.
